Fionn loves fall weather!

Hey there fans, Fionn here after a bit of a break. Sorry but I’ve been busy getting my groove back. I got sick for a few days after my second chemo. I only threw up once and mom gave me pills so I wouldn’t do it anymore, but I didn’t feel like eating or doing much. Mom was worried I wouldn’t be able to get my picture taken with Santa at the rescue where she adopted me. It’s a long drive, but we did it anyway and once I got there, I was fine! It’s a rescue for golden retrievers like me so it’s always nice to see so many of my “peeps” in one place. Everyone was so amazed that I was doing so well and Santa asked if I could get on the bench with him. Of course I can jump up there I said so I did. Then, mom moved away for the picture, I got worried she was leaving and slipped on the blanket that was on the bench and FELL OFF. So embarrassing and everyone thought I had hurt myself, but I was fine. So, they took my picture sitting on the ground instead. santaThe scarf makes it look like I have 4 legs! Pretty handsome if I do say so myself. Right after me a younger dog jumped up on the bench and he fell off too. Landed on his back and HE has all 4 legs. His pawrents just laughed at him. No one laughed when I fell off!

After my visit with Santa, I started to feel more like myself again. Like the James Brown song says “I FEEL GOOD” now. I do! And, I LOVE fall. I REALLY do. Mom says it’s because of all my hair. I think it’s because golden retrievers came from Scotland and it’s NEVER 100 degrees there! I started sleeping outside after mom goes to bed back when my leg started hurting because the concrete patio felt so cool. I still like to sleep outside even though it’s a lot colder now. Mom put a nice mattress out there for me. I’m fine really, if I get too cold I’ll come in, THAT’S WHY SHE PUT IN A DOG DOOR RIGHT?

One thing I miss is going on hikes with mom or my kids. Mom finally said I could do a little one so I could practice going up and down hills. All of my walks have been flat. I kinda pooped out so it was short but I’ll keep practicing!img_3501

So, everyone knows I like to roll right? (if you don’t it means you haven’t read all of my blog and frankly, I’m hurt). I especially like rolling in the leaves this time of yearimg_3481

img_3483-2 But, the BEST place to roll is in sand. In the summer, mom takes me to the river beach to swim and roll, but she said the water was too high now so she took me to the lake beach. She hates taking me there. I don’t know what her problem is- the place is covered in GOOSE POOP and that’s fantastic! Mom films literally everything I do (totally appropriate btw) so here’s me rolling at the lake. There were A LOT of swans and geese in the lake. I kinda lost my mind and wanted to GET THEM so I ran away from mom. She got a video before she had to go in the lake after me. She got mad about getting wet and said I can’t swim until I have a float vest. What? I guess I didn’t think through the one leg in front bit, but why would she get mad at me? She took me to a LAKE and I’m a RETRIEVER. Duh.

She did get some lovely shots of me staring at the birds and wishing I could go get just one of them.img_3462lake-lrg

Stay tuned for my next installment. 3rd chemo news and Christmas tree hunting!

I love this story! I can’t wait to take Rosie swimming. It’s only 38 today so am going to have to wait until spring. Please post how Fionn does when he gets his vest. Can’t wait to read all about it. Thanks again for sharing!

Oh Fionn !! I ADORE YOU!!! You are THE best storyteller ever!!

And you have a lot of fun adventures to share, that’s for sure! Chasing Swans (sorta), rolling leaves covered in goose poop, AND getting a GREAT picture with Santa!

That smile on your face…the joy in your eyes…that’s what it’s all about! And that bench is too tiny for a big dog anyway!

Can’t wait to see pictures of you swimming! Is Santa bringing you a floatcoat?

Keep on keeping on handsome! You’re doing great!

    Love and hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
